Harbottle & Lewis is a leading law firm, specialising in working with media and entertainment industries. 

The challenge 

Harbottle & Lewis needed to make its business development efforts more successful. Harbottle & Lewis' Head of Marketing and Business Development wanted to significantly increase the firm's footprint in its core sectors.

In addition, Harbottle & Lewis wanted to:

  • increase revenues in its target segments
  • further solidify its position as the premier Media and Entertainment firm in London
  • enable newly made-up partners to be successful.

How Gelst contributed

Gelst acted as an extension of Harbottle & Lewis' marketing department during the run-in period for the new marketing team. Gelst worked with Harbottle & Lewis' Head of Marketing and Business Development to articulate its market approach – based on the aspirations of the Partners, previous sales successes and the position of the firm in the market. We then assisted in planning, budgeting and scheduling all marketing activities, from branding through to business development, including cross-selling, based on external benchmarks.

We also provided specialist expertise to enhance the firms online presence by fully updating Harbottle.com and training internal marketing staff in the management of the website.

Gelst's programme-level approach allowed the Head of Marketing and Business Development – having agreed to the programmes – to focus on other priorities in the knowledge that all programmes would be executed effectively.

Results

The business has increased significantly, increasing both revenues and profits, and allowing the firm to make up a substantial number of Partners.
